All event names start with "SPIE" at first mention.

Depending on the context, in may be necessary to mention the year of the event. Append the end of the conference name with the year. It is only necessary to do so at first mention.
"SPIE Advanced Lithography 2020"
Use "+" not "and" and use spaces before and after the plus sign when spelling out the event name in copy.
"SPIE Optics + Photonics"
Use "|" not "and" or "/" or commas when spelling out the event name of AVR in copy. And spaces before and after the vertical bar as well.
"SPIE AR | VR | MR"
Acronym use is acceptable on social media platforms ONLY if space is at a premium and the acronym is fairly well known to our community, which include: PW; DCS; O+P

Generally, acronyms are for internal use only. Never use an acronym in web copy.
"Defense + Commercial Sensing Rising Researchers," not "DCS Rising Researchers"

Certain acronyms are actual names of sub-conferences and should be used including: OPTO; LASE; BiOS
The i in BiOS is always lower case. Use "BIOS" only when all caps is necessary for consistent formatting.
While conference names are always in all-caps in their logos, use title case when referring to the conferences in copy.
The formal name of our app is "SPIE Conferences" therefore when we refer to it in copy do not capitalize app if it follows the name, write the SPIE Conferences app. Do not include exhibitions in the name.
